Retail Design - Why Unfilled Displays Creates Lousy Impression For The Business

February 8th, 2010

Shelving is another important consideration in retail design. You should place the best selling products and the products that have the best profit margins at eye level.

Sometimes companies will give you special deals on products if you place them in a certain location. You should also line up your products largest to smallest left to right, when there is more than one size of a product. This is because people naturally look from left to right.

By putting your larger products on the left you are more likely to have customers grab the larger size, which makes you more sales. Vacant space should be reduced as it uses up valuable space in your business and does not look good.

The space between shelves should just be a little more than is required for hands to take the product of the shelves. You should also ensure that your shelves are well stocked. If you have plenty of stock on hand you create confidence in the product and create more of a visual impact.
