Why Roulette Systems Don’t Work
Plenty of people that play online roulette have paid for a roulette system only to be left feeling empty when it ultimately fails. I’ve decided to give my opinion on why most roulette systems fail in the long term.
There is a house edge with roulette and it’s built into the game. You cannot overcome the roulette house edge with any combination of bets or series of bets, it’s absolutely impossible.
The house edge alone is enough to kill of the majority of roulette systems over the long term. However the house edge is not often the cause of roulette systems failing, it’s because most systems play against a players odds.
The most common system that fails without the intervention of the house edge is the martingale where you double your bets each time you lose. It often works over the short term which fools people into thinking that it works. The downfall of this system is that after only a few losses you will lose your entire bankroll and it’s inevitable that this will happen.
This is the difference between the martingale system and the house edge. When losing to the house edge it happens slowly over time but with the martingale you will lose everything in seconds. I should also mention that you never win more than one unit with the martingale, even when you lose 10 times and have ti bet thousands per spin your end profit will still only be one unit should you win.
A lot of roulette systems are based on past spin results and this is another reason why they fail. Systems based on past results work on the theory of betting on something that hasn’t shown for a few spins. This doesn’t work, especially with real roulette wheels because the wheel has no memory.
There is potential to use past spins to predict future spins when you play online roulette because it’s a software program, therefore it does have a memory and it needs to make sure it distributes everything evenly. However, while it’s possible it’s very unlikely because it would take a lot of research to be in the position to predict future spins. These are the most common reasons for roulette systems failing whether it be for a real roulette wheel or for an artificial wheel in an online casino.
